Most of the furniture in the living room is second hand

I live in an apartment with a modest sized living room. Most of the furniture in the living room is second hand. I have a sofa that the cats have shredded so I cover it.

The computer is there with a desk. There is a small TV and a stereo that sits on a coffee table. I have a baker’s rack that I put together myself.

I use it to display knick knacks and as display area for holiday decorations. I have a metal shelf for books and lots of books. I also have two side tables for the phone and a lamp.

The living room does not have an over head light so I need two lamps for lighting. I also store other things in the living room like CDs, DVDs and video games.

I have no storage so I keep boxes of holiday decorations in the living room. All the furniture that I have has been given to me except the baker’s rack. I bought that at Wal-Mart and it came in a kit.

I would like to replace the chair I’m using at the computer desk with an office chair. I’ve been looking at the ones offered by Office Depot. It would be nice to replace all the furniture with something new.

I’ve kicked around the idea of getting a futon sofa and have looked the stores ads as well as catalogs. I have a large collection of books and I really need better book selves to display them on.

I don’t watch much TV, but my son does. I’ve thought about getting a plasma TV just to whatch my DVDs.

One other piece of furniture is a cedar hope chest that I use like a coffee table. I keep it covered with a fleece throw because of my cats.
